At the Africa Center for Doctoral Studies and Applied Research (ACD-SAR), we are proud to pioneer a bold new vision for doctoral education on the continent. In an era where conventional PhD models often fall short of addressing real-world complexities, ACD-SAR offers a transformative alternative. Inspired by the CDT–BEPS framework at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), and informed by global trends in professional doctorates such as the DBA, EdD, and EngD, our Center reimagines doctoral study for the 21st century, anchored in Africa’s development priorities and global relevance.

We champion a model of open, inclusive, and digitally enabled learning. Through modular curricula, recognition of prior learning (RPL), and blended delivery formats, ACD-SAR empowers professionals from diverse sectors to pursue doctoral research without compromising accessibility or relevance.
